In 2007 Dr Tilak Dissanayake purchased a residence in Riversdale Road with the vision of converting the premises into a fully functioning Medical Centre before his return to Melbourne with his wife Donna and 3 young children. Earlier this year the Medical Centre was opened with Dr Dissanayake, the principal doctor providing Men’s, Women’s and Children’s Health needs (including immunisations). In addition the centre operates rooms for Skin Cancer and Medical Acupuncture services.
Dr Dissanayake quoted ‘It is wonderful to return to Melbourne after being in NSW for the past 12 years. (Where he practiced medicine and worked as the Visiting Medical officer to a 20 bed hospital). Melbourne is where I completed my medical degree at Monash University in 1994 and where I fulfilled extensive training at Austin and Alfred Hospitals plus other major public and private hospitals as a Resident and Registrar’.
On 14 September 2012, Highfield Park Medical Centre was officially opened by Hon Josh Frydenberg Federal MP for Kooyong and other distinguished guests. It was wonderful to welcome both existing and new prospective patients throughout the afternoon where they enjoyed a tour and light refreshments.
Dr Dissanayake said ‘The centre aims to provide family friendly and caring health services to all, with free services to Aged and Disabled Pensioners, Veteran Affairs and children 16 and under’.
Over all the day was a wonderful event, allowing existing patients and new patients to meet the Doctor and tour the newly refurbished premises, whilst the children were entertained by face painting and a sausage sizzle.
